1957 PLYMOUTH CONVERTIBLE, 70%-80%
RESTORED.
Just in, a 1957 Plymouth Belvedere convertible,
totally rust free car.
It belonged to an engineer at GM's proving grounds
here in Arizona for at least 35-40 years and
possible longer. He recently passed away and his
widow is moving out of state.
When he bought the Plymouth it was white with a
black top. There's a picture showing the car when he
bought it.
It is still white, no convertible top was installed
so it can be any color at the moment.
He drove the car very little at first but then took
it down to the bare frame and over 30+ years he has
been doing a frame off restoration on the car that
is 70%-80% finished now.
The widow told me his engineering-friends from the
proving grounds would come over and they worked on
the Plymouth together on and off for many years.
It is completely rebuilt mechanically, engine,
transmission, front end, brakes, drive shaft etc,
etc.
The body is back on the frame and the engine starts
and runs great. And the car is completely drivable
as is. The push button shifter cable needs
adjustment still.
The doors, fenders, hood, decklid, bumpers, lights
etc are installed and the car is over 90% together.
The side glass is not installed right now but we'll
probably do that next week, new windshield, the seat
covers are okay and usable but old and should be
redone for the car to be completely rebuilt. The car
needs carpet, door panels etc.
The conv top frame is perfect, it almost look new.
There's no vinyl conv top on it.
The electric wiring is installed and lights etc are
working.
The car has bumper wings and also dual rear
antennas, not installed yet.
There's a lot of documentation and pictures from the
restoration, inc pictures of the bare frame, rebuilt
and detailed engine and on and on.
We can sell the car as is or finished. We don't have
time to wait for 2+ years on door panels from SMS so
if we get a new interior done it will be nice but
not 100% correct for the car.
